  1.  an overlay. And what dark mass appears 
  2.  off-center in the hot sun-softened field, a fractal 
  3.  shape I recognize, like a shadow on a scanned 
  4.  lung, cast off the magic-lanternΓÇÖs flame?ΓÇö 
  5.  reversed, unclear, this shape (I know) is Africa 
  6.  as seen from underneathΓÇöthe rafting Ark 
  7.  where all imagined radiance began, 
  8.  all shadow-show that plays across the silver membranes 
  9.  separating us, and light from dark, 
  10.  and life from memory, as glass from stainΓÇö
